Dermal Fillers for Facial Rejuvenation:
Marionettes, Nasolabial Folds, Fine lines, Smokers lines, and Midface Treatment
Dermal fillers have become an increasingly popular solution for facial rejuvenation, particularly for addressing concerns such as marionette lines, nasolabial folds, wrinkles above the lips, and overall midface rejuvenation (for information on contouring, cheeks, jaw & chin, see Russian Contouring). Using a combination of both needles and cannulas, I achieve precise and natural-looking results for clients seeking to restore a youthful appearance.
Needle vs. Cannula: Understanding the Difference
The needle is a traditional tool used for injecting dermal fillers, offering high precision and the ability to target specific areas. However, it can sometimes cause more discomfort and minor bruising due to its sharpness and direct puncturing of the skin.
On the other hand, a cannula is a blunt-tipped instrument that offers a more advanced and less invasive technique. It moves smoothly through the skin, reducing the risk of bruising and minimizing pain. It is ideal for treating larger areas and allows for more controlled placement of fillers, especially in delicate areas such as around the mouth and midface.
Nasolabial Folds: A Special Approach
One area where I use a unique technique is in the treatment of nasolabial folds. I apply a special cannula "hoovering" technique, gently pulling the skin as I add dermal filler, ensuring the dermal filler is precisely placed. This technique is combined with layering the dermal filler at different depths in the tissue. This multi-depth approach mimics the natural structure of the skin and results in a more seamless and natural appearance.
Midface Rejuvenation
As we age, the skin below the cheekbone becomes thinner, losing its natural elasticity and developing fine lines and wrinkles. To restore support and improve skin quality in this area, I use a cannula with a fine dermal filler placed into the dermis. By creating a web-like structure, the filler provides internal scaffolding that enhances the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid production, reinforcing its structure and hydration. This technique not only smooths wrinkles and fine lines but also strengthens the underlying tissue, giving the lower cheek a firmer, more youthful appearance.
A Personalized Approach
By using a combination of needles and cannulas, I tailor the treatment to each patient’s unique needs, addressing specific concerns like marionette lines, wrinkles, and loss of volume in the midface, while ensuring results that look and feel natural.
Dermal filler treatments, when done correctly, can rejuvenate the face and restore its natural beauty without the need for invasive surgery.
